LEED GA Certification

2010-01-18
Mike Schuyler, Director of Business Development, has attained LEED GA accreditation. LEED GA accreditation is awarded through the U.S. Green Building Council; the USGBC is the national consensus for producing a new generation of buildings that deliver high performance inside and out. The USGBC is dedicated to expanding green building practices and education, and its LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System.

The LEED Rating System supports global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally understood and accepted tools and performance criteria. A LEED GA is an individual who has demonstrated the knowledge and skills necessary to participate in the design process, support & encourage integrated design and streamline the LEED application and certification process.

LEED GA accreditation strengthens Legacy's qualifications when responding to RFPs requiring a LEED GA and provides additional resources for green building as it relates to Legacy's solutions when preparing to participate in a LEED project.

How It Works

Since generating wind energy on site isn't feasible, we're offsetting all of our electricity use with wind-generated Renewable Energy Certificates, which prevent the release of 2,660 metric tons of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere each year.

That figure is staggering when you consider the estimated yearly benefit to the environment is equivalent to any one of the following:

* planting approximately 2,390 acres of trees
* not driving 6.1 million miles
* removing 510 cars from the road

Reduce your carbon footprint by visiting our site on servers powered 100% by wind energy.

Legacy became one of a few contractors in the State of Michigan this past year to obtain their Certified Green Professional accreditation. Forward thinking, along with the benefits of building structures that not only are healthy for the environment but work with the environment itself is what we look forward to accomplishing. With this accreditation, we will open the door to further opportunities in the Green World we are walking into.
